The election fallout is beginning to set in. Some Democrats are panicked that they are going to have to pray fervently if the party ever has a chance of getting elected to anything again. Some Republicans claim that even praying won't help because God knows they're just foolin' to get elected.

Does seem ironic that John F. Kennedy had to pledge to a bunch of ministers in 1960 that he wouldn't bring prayer and the Pope into the White House but John F. Kerry gets hammered because he doesn't bring in Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson.

Go figure.

Another Good News/Bad News Day.

Just when you thought things would get better because Attorney General Ashcroft is taking a hike the President picks his replacement. Alberto Gonzales, the architect of Ashcroft's policies is about to be nominated.

The fellow who called the Geneva Convention obsolete, advised the President on detainment policies that were not even acceptable to the conservative Supreme Court and who believes torture of prisoners is justified will prove to be a fitting replacement for the President's last mistake. After all, why monkey around with the student when you can have the teacher.

But then that is what his supporters seem like about the President. He's consistent.

Well the Presidential election is a week behind us and the depression of the vanquished is beginning to fade as the President ramps up his political machine and begins to spend the political capital he believes he earned with his overwhelming 3% election. According to the pundits the President apparently won with strong support from religious conservatives. All of which leaves the nation divided just as it was before between two diametrically opposed groups each saying "God help us!"

Yesterday, President Bush, in a very conciliatory statement, again said he wants to reach out to the other side and bring us together to heal the nation's wounds.

Today he explained that by "reaching out" he meant that it only included anybody who "shared his goals". That narrowed the market considerably.

He then informed us that by winning he had accumulated political capital and he intended to expend it to further his agenda. All of which left anyone who might still have doubts, that it was...... "his way or the highway".

Then the vice-President confirmed our suspicions by referring to the 2 % margin of victory in the election as a mandate.

So for that 48% of you who voted wrong, thought wrong, were born wrong on the wrong side of the street or decided to stray there, just remember................ you're still wrong, and will probably always be wrong, but the President forgives you. He may even tolerate you....... and, for a small contribution to the party he may even let you stay here.

There's an old saying "if you work long enough and hard enough you may be unfortunate enough to get what you were going after".

The President appears to have done just that last night but I'm not sure he's won anything worth having. He's re-inherited a nation that is bitterly divided, in debt up to it's armpits, that is hemorraging jobs by the millions and is in a war with the wrong people in the wrong place at the wrong time for the wrong reason. Oh, and the rest of the world doesn't much like us anymore and would not lose much sleep if we fell on our face.

Then again, if you never make mistakes and these are your solutions maybe that's where you ought to be.

Was watching one of the White House spin doctors on tv over the weekend explain that we didn't live in a democracy, we lived in a republic, which is why we can have the Electoral College do our real voting for us.

Right now Iraq has an un-elected appointed government just like we do. So if we dumped our Electoral College and gave it to them could they become a real Republic just like us and would we finally become a real Democracy just like we profess to be?

American military strategy is predicated on the following philosophy developed over 250 years of experience:

1. To support vital American interests.
2. Have clearly defined military objectives.
3. Sufficient strength for an overwhelming and decisive victory.
4. Overwhelming support of the people and the Congress.
5. Commitment of troops should be a last resort after all political, diplomatic and economic efforts have failed.
6. Plan ahead and have an exit strategy.

Bush military experience is predicated on the following philosophy developed over 4 years of experience.

1. To support vital Halliburton interests.
2. Win. If you don't, redefine the definition of win.
3. Do it on the cheap. We're so good we can do it at half price with half the force.
4. All we need is God and the Republican Party on our side. No one else matters unless they have cash or oil.
5. Commitment of troops should come when anyone doesn't do what we tell them to do.......... yesterday.
6. What's a plan? Who's leaving?

Any Questions?

A full lunar eclipse! The Red Sox win the pennant! What's left to happen in the world that even comes close to this?

Well, how about the President privately admits to an unnamed source (but not for publication which is why we haven't heard it yet) that mistakes were made by someone, somewhere, someplace at sometime, but not on his watch that he knows about.

It's a start.

Vice President Cheney declared Iraq a "success" yesterday, ...................................................which leaves one to wonder what rock he's been under for the past year.

Iraq Today:
The water and lights still don't work most of the time, the Iraqi army and police have been infiltrated and are being blown up and executed daily, our army has a Fort Apache strategy, we have few if any backup troops and everyone is being extended in the "backdoor draft". The billions from Iraqi oil that were going to pay for the stuff we blew up so far have cost us about $200 billion with a $75 billion installment waiting in the wings, the government we installed in June doesn't like us much more than the rest of the country and the munitions that are being used to blow us up appear to have been stolen from us. We don't have any friends left in the world, our casualties top 1,100 with 8,000 wounded and Iraq has become the kidnap and beheading capital of the world not to mention the thousands of innocent dead Iraqi's.

We are there under false pretenses. There were no WMD's, nor is there any evidence that Iraq was going to have them anytime soon. They did not participate in 9/11 and could barely feed their own people and while Saddam Hussein was a bad person, so is "Dear Leader" Kim Jung Ill of North Korea. Why aren't we in Pongyang? Is it because he does have nuclear WMD's?

Hard to believe we could have a bigger screwup than the last Gulf War when we took our ball and went home and let Saddam come back and murder the people we "liberated" but then again, that was another "success" by the same management team. I would hate to contemplete what they would consider to be a failure.

Meanwhile, on the domestic front the vice President declared the economy to be a "success" yesterday................which leaves one to wonder if he knows what a rock is.

Terry (Theresa Hienz) Kerry, potential First Lady seems to have done it again. This time she's apologizing for having said former librarian and school teacher Laura Bush never worked a real job.

Whether she did or didn't, it was a dumb thing to say and the First Lady handled it well and with class.

For the rest of us, the delimma we have is that unfortunately we have to vote for her husband instead of her.
