The Donald was right. the system is rigged
The conventions are over, the patriots are lined up with their parties and the contest begins........for the Democrats it is Hillary Clinton.........for the Republicans it is the Undonald. What is an Undonald? It is the candidate they don't want but can't get rid of. They being the Republican establishment.
Why don't they want him? He seems to know nothing and what he does know is usually wrong and he attacks everyone, especially his friends. Worst of all he seems to have no inclination to learn or change, not that you could trust a change if it happened. In other words he is what they like to think they are not.
Yet at least one third or better of the electorate want to vote for this guy. Logic leaves you wondering why, but this is not about logic. It is all about emotion and anger.
If you have grown up thinking it is all going to come out great for you and somewhere along the way it hasn't worked out at some point you start looking for a reason and the last place you look, fair or not, is a mirror.
Along comes "The Donald". He has what you think you wanted, he tells you who did you in and he offers you a piece of the pie. And you don't have to do any thinking or work to get it. Oh, and he's going to take care of those others that did you in, aka, the establishment, Muslims, immigrants, you name it. They are guilty and he will take care of it. He will even pay for it.
What a deal. No work, no thought, no cost equals success. Worked for him. It will work for you. Just suspend reality and trust him.
There is an old saying. You can't reason someone out of something they were never reasoned into. Seems to apply here.
Today is the Republican caucus that isn't a caucus in North Dakota. Apparently no one is bound to anything as far as delegates are concerned and nobody seems to know quite how it works but the party hi-ups will let us know what "the people" have decided as soon as "they" decide what it is. Dakota democracy is democracy at its best, or so "they" tell us.
If anyone has been following the political circus this year (how could you avoid it) you know that "The Donald" seems to be driving the Republican Party to the brink of the Apocalypse. Knashing of teeth, wringing of hands and "what if" scenarios dominate speculation about whether or not the world is going to end if he does or does not get the party nomination for President.
Seems that they have figured out that either way they lose. Sort of like a Mexican standoff wrapped in a Catch 22 on steroids.
For the people who always seem to think they have all the answers, it appears for once they are having to actually answer some of the questions....and none of their answers work.
Benghazi is in the news again. Investigation number 8 of what is supposed to be an another explanation of what happened. Jeb Bush had it right. Stuff happened. Bad stuff.
The latest committee according to congressman turned house speaker non candidate Kevin McCarthy was organised to derail Hillary Clinton. He pointed to its success while in the process of committing political suicide. An investigator who worked for the committee says the same.
So what do we do now? ......Appoint a new committee to investigate the committee?
Last week Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Iamnotayahoo spoke before the US Congress at their invitation and in a direct snub of the President.
He says he is not a Yahoo but based on Jonathan Swift's definition, and he's the guy who created Yahoos, ........he is.
So here we have "Yet Another Hierarchical Officious Oracle" and a congress full of Bozos to go with him.
May God save us from the legislature whenever they are in session, which fortunately is very rare.
Appears Joe Biden was right. Iraq is three countries un-united by religion and in the process of igniting themselves.
When this is all done we will have a major role in what will become Kurdistan and our bases in Kuwait to protect the south of Iraq from being overrun.
The remainder of Iraq, ISIS and Syria can sort out the details on what's left.
The bigger concern will be Putin and Ukraine before the week is out. It's just the way these things work. Organized chaos.
Leave it to Texas.
They are now looking at a proposal to sell alchohol at gun shows.
In their defense and to insure that no one goes off the reservation and shoots the place up over a gun deal gone bad they have added rules.... which assumes that a guy with an attitude, a bottle and a Colt is going to follow them.
The Rules: You can't buy bullets and you can't take posession of the gun at the show....which leaves us to beg the question, "Why did you come to the gun show to begin with"?
The rest of the country may shake their head about things like this but in Texas they take this stuff seriously, which is one of the reasons why Texas is "a whole n'other country", otherwise known as an amusement park called "Catch 22 Land".
Everybody is saying that times have never been worse.
Russia is about to invade Ukraine. Iraq is in turmoil with a third of the country occupied by terrorist. Syria has a civil war. Israel and the Palestinians are still fighting.....for 3,000 years. Libya is a mess.
But I think it all depends on where you're at.
When I was in grade school we used to have a drill. We would go out in the hall and get down on our knees with our head bent against the outside wall. Then we would open up the biggest book we had over the back of our neck. We were told this would save us from incineration by a nuclear warhead.
Try it. It is a good excercise in relativity. If you still think things are worse today... stay there. The book will protect you. You have my word on it.
Lot of hand wringing over what to do in Iraq. We want to tell ourselves that we don't really have an interest there. It worked with Vietnam when things went South at the end of the Vietnam War. Vietnam went on the back burner and is still there.
This new ISIS Caliphate in Syria and Iraq is a horse of a different color. It has money, spelled billions, it has our weapons we gave to the Iraqi Army, they gave them to ISIS when they ran away, and they have experience, from fighting for what amounts to forever.
They have also concentrated themselves in the world's biggest sandbox. If they take the cities you will not be able to find a back burner to put them on.
